GovHack is sponsored by the City of Gold Coast and is being held at the Griffith University, Gold Coast Campus – Building G30 Room 1.09. Commencement date is July 3rd at 5.30pm with the official opening time at 7pm and culminating on Sunday 5th July.

GovHack allows local Gold Coasters to display their creativity and talents with an abundance of free and published government data. This is a competition being held in various locations around Australia and New Zealand with the opportunity to win a number of national and local prizes!

This purpose of this amazing event is to provide a place where people generally associated with software development, IT industry, Government or basically anyone from the general public can share and have access to open government and open data that can be mashed up, reused and remixed as you choose.

Not only does GovHack provide one of the few places you can access this kind of information freely, it also provides dinner, drinks and a fantastic networking opportunity where you can connect with like-minded people.

GovHack is open to everyone and anyone and is all about learning and having fun regardless of your level of expertise. There will be copious amounts of power, food and caffeine on hand to keep you interested and you are guaranteed to walk away with awesome information and ideas to help you expand your thinking and creativity.
